Rambus on Thursday announced it signed a six-year patent licensing agreement with Fujitsu Semiconductors, which will use Rambus technology in chips and integrated circuits.
Rambus holds patents related to memory architecture and logic, and licenses memory designs to companies. Fujitsu Semiconductor designs and makes integrated circuits, and also manufactures processors, microcontrollers and memory used in a range of products.

Salesforce.com subsidiary Heroku today is launching a PaaS (platform-as-a-service) cloud option for Java developers that is intended to make it easier to deploy Web applications on the Heroku cloud platform. Developers will able to package applications as WAR (Java Web Archive) files. Applications can be built and deployed in minutes instead of months, the company claims.

Yahoo will replace CFO Tim Morse this fall in what may be the latest move by recently appointed CEO Marissa Mayer to put her own mark on the company's leadership.

A majority high-level IT managers and data storage professionals have no plans to deploy big data analytics, according to a new data storage survey by market research firm TheInfoPro.
Fifty-six percent of respondents indicated they will not be deploying big data analytics applications even beyond 2013, the survey of 255 IT professionals found. Half of those surveyed were data storage professionals at the analyst level; the other half comprised IT mangers, vice presidents and CIOs.

When migrating to the new service, the company wanted to use its legacy hardware infrastructure -- mostly Dell and EMC storage servers -- with new hardware that had been purchased for the upgrade.
